I have never heard Ravel’s Kaddish before. It’s quite beautiful. I grew up in an atheist Jewish household. We knew of the kaddish tradition, and my father probably recited it for his much beloved mother. But the only kaddish I knew was Allen Ginsberg’s long poem. The long arc of history is full of words and music to help quell the anguish of grief. This we share as humans.
